미국 뉴햄프셔주의 공화당 대통령 예비선거에서 매케인(McCain)이 조지
부시 Jr.를 이겼다는 놀라운 소식이 있었다. 미국의 경우 각 정당의 대통령
후보는 주에 따라서 primary나 caucus를 통해 선출하는데, primary는
비밀선거를 통해서 이뤄지는 것이며, caucus는 선거없이 공공연히 자신이
지지하는 후보를 지원하는 정치적 모임이다. 이는 가장 많이 지지받는
후보자를 지명하려는 목적으로 여론수렴을 위해 만든 제도. 빈칸에 들어갈
말은 선거대표인단을 뜻하는 (a).
