President Moon Jae-in visited the construction site of the Barakah nuclear power plant together with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on Monday.
Moon said the plant is important for both countries as it is Korea's first nuclear plant project on foreign soil and for the UAE the very first nuclear power station in the Arab world.
The four reactors of the US$18.6 billion facility are being built by a consortium led by KEPCO roughly 240 km southwest of Abu Dhabi.
The project is a key pillar for the Korea-UAE partnership but has come under some criticism as Moon tries to phase out nuclear power at home.
