Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, currently battling record floods that threaten to inundate the capital Bangkok, wants to learn from a Korean mega-project to improve the nation's major waterways.
A Foreign Ministry official here said Friday, "Once Thailand recovers somewhat from the devastation, she will coordinate her schedule with President Lee Myung-bak and could visit before the end of the year."
Torrential rains since August have led to more than 70 percent of Thailand suffering record flooding. The Thai government has launched a recovery and rebuilding campaign worth some 900 billion baht (W32.6 trillion).
Yingluck apparently wants to benchmark four-rivers restoration project to prevent future disasters and improve water management in Thailand.
