Actress Park Gyu-young has built up her career and fame steadily since her debut in 2016. Her latest work is Netflix's Korean series "Celebrity," in which she took her first solo lead role, and the series quickly shot to No. 4 on the streaming platform's global chart after its release last week.

"It's amazing. I never expected [the series would become a hit]. I feel great as all the staff and cast have been rewarded for their hard work," Park said.

She admitted being nervous and feeling pressure from having to lead the series alone, although she tried to pretend otherwise.

"Even the director said that he was nervous, but it received a good response when it was released and I felt relieved," she said. "When I got on Netflix, I saw my own face filling the screen. To be honest that made me feel happy and rewarded."

Park said she has learned about the life of celebrities and what it means to be famous through the series, although she, as an actress, is considered part of the celebrity world.

"I live a really ordinary life. As I only go back and forth between my home and the set or the gym, I don't feel anything has changed since my debut. But it was interesting that when my project was released and it received a good response, I could feel it right away," she said. "I learned a lot about internet influencers. How hard they work to create new content, and what a competitive world they live in."

"Celebrity" depicts the reality of the glamorous and competitive life of social media influencers.

It seems that her career is moving to the next level as she is now able to join big projects. She has also been cast in the second season of Netflix's mega hit Korean series "Squid Game," which is set to begin filming later this month.
