Music director Jung Jae-il was honored at this year's Hollywood Music in Media Awards on Wednesday for his work on Netflix's hit Korean series "Squid Game."
He became the first Korean to win an award at the HMMAs.
He has already earned some global recognition after composing the score for Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho's films such as "Okja" and "Parasite."
The HMMAs, which are marking their 12th year, honor songs and scores in all forms of visual media including films, video games, trailers and commercial advertisements.
The dystopian thriller series, which was released in mid-September, depicts a high-stakes survival competition in which down-on-their-luck players are taken to a mysterious location where they must compete in one children's game after another to win a prize or face death.
