Hyundai Motor Group has been named among TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential Companies in the world, the only South Korean company to make the list.

TIME on June 26 announced that Hyundai Motor Group was selected in the Leaders category, one of five sectors in the TIME100 Most Influential Companies. Chinese automaker BYD was named in the Innovators category.
Since 2021, TIME has chosen 100 companies worldwide based on submitted data, global correspondents’ input, and expert opinions. Past Korean companies on the list include Samsung (2021, 2023), Hybe (2021, 2022), The Pinkfong Company (2022), Kia, SK, and Blind (2023), and Hanwha Group (2024).
Hyundai was recognized for its investments in future mobility solutions like electric and hybrid vehicles. “Hyundai continues to prove that its rise to the top ranks of global automakers—it was the third-largest automaker in 2024—was no fluke," the magazine said. “Once saddled with a subpar reputation in the U.S., sales are surging upward as the South Korean-based giant’s Kia and Hyundai brands rack up awards for new EV and hybrid vehicles.” In the first quarter of this year, Hyundai recorded its highest revenue, with electrified vehicle sales up 38.4% year-on-year.
TIME also noted that the South Korean-based giant plans to invest $21 billion in U.S. production by 2028 and double its hybrid lineup to 14 models by 2030, adding, “Hyundai’s American roots continue to deepen.”
