South Korean automaker giant Kia announced that its small electric SUV, the Kia EV3, has been named the €40,000 ($42,874) at the 2024 Golden Steering Wheel Awards.

The Golden Steering Wheel Awards, which date back to 1976, are among Europe’s most prestigious automotive honors. A panel of 18 judges evaluated a total of 78 vehicles across 14 categories to select the top models in each segment.

Kia highlighted the significance of the award, noting that the EV3 has not yet been released in Germany, where the recognition was awarded. The EV3 earned high marks from the judges for its impressive 375-mile single-charge range, as per European WLTP standards, spacious interior, and an array of convenience features.

“EV3 is a high-value model offering a robust driving range and a variety of convenient features,” said Auto Bild’s Editor-in-Chief Robin Hornig. “With a seven-year warranty covering the vehicle and its battery, customers can feel assured in making a safe purchase.”

Kia aims to sell around 60,000 EV3 units per year in Europe. The company plans to hold a test drive event this month with 500 journalists from 26 countries in attendance.
