South Korean sportswear brand FILA released its latest annual sustainability report, “YOUR FILA IMPACT—FILA Integrated Report 2023.” The report focuses on the company’s commitment to sustainability and outlines efforts ranging from product circularity to supply chain transparency.
This marks the fifth edition since setting the “YOUR FILA IMPACT 2025″ goal in 2019. Last year, FILA adopted the sustainability theme “Change the Game: From Deuce to Victory,” symbolizing its strategic dedication to leading in sustainability efforts.
FILA made significant efforts last year to produce sustainable footwear and improve product circularity. Through its upcycling program, first introduced in 2022, the company now repurposes footwear waste into new product components, such as insoles and store materials like shoe risers.
The company also strived to enhance supply chain transparency and ensure partner safety and human rights. This included establishing a Sustainability Team within FILA Holdings and a dedicated Sustainability Compliance Team in sourcing entities. The company conducted third-party audits of partners and updated supplier selection criteria based on compliance, productivity, and partnerships.
FILA Holdings said the company’s sustainability management has received positive evaluations from a number of external evaluation agencies. For the second year running, it earned the “Best ESG Fashion Company” recognition from the Sustainable Fashion Initiative (SFI) and received a “Low Risk” rating from ESG evaluation agency Sustainalytics, an “A” ESG rating from the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance, an “A” ESG rating from Sustinvest, and a “B+” from the Korea ESG Research Institute.
“FILA is dedicated to exploring ways to continuously provide our stakeholders with the values of sports and beauty,” an official from FILA Holdings said. “Through various policies and actions, we are progressively integrating sustainability across all aspects of our business, driving significant change.”
