Ex-U.S. ambassador to Korea Mark Lippert will be hired as vice president at Samsung Electronics for public relations in North America.
Lippert, who was never a career diplomat, is currently Asia Pacific policy chief at YouTube. He served as U.S. ambassador to Seoul from 2014 to 2017, where he fell victim to a knife attack by an extremist.
He speaks some Korean and gave both his children who were born here Korean names.
Negotiations are in the final stages.
