POSCO Power will participate in building the world's largest solar power plant in the U.S.
The energy unit of steelmaker POSCO said Tuesday that it will join hands with Sustainable Energy Capital Partners, a California-based renewable energy developer, to build a 300 MW solar power plant in Boulder City, Nevada.
When it is completed in 2014 the plant will supply electricity to 60,000 households in California and Nevada over the next two decades.
The deal will help POSCO Power "advance into the fast-growing U.S. renewable energy market," president Cho Soung-sik said. "We will build and operate plants running on renewable energy with a combined capacity of 1 GW at home and abroad by 2020."
