The Korean Organizing Committee for the World Cup announced Tuesday that North Korea's Physical Education Committee leader Park Myong-cheol and secretary of its Olympic Committee Jang Ung will be unlikely to attend the 2002 World Cup finals as they have not replied to a May 9 invitation.
The letter of invitation was delivered under the names of KOWOC co-chairs Chung Mong-joon and Lee Yeon-tek, to Park and Jang through the inter-Korean liaison channel in Panmunjeom.
A government official said Tuesday that even though a flight from Pyongyang to Shenyang was scheduled for Wednesday, the booking list did not include their names.
