The Democratic Labor Party announced, Tuesday, it was fielding 107 candidates for the June 13 regional elections including seven for mayor, or governor positions. This is the largest candidate list for the DLP and it is aiming to seize 5% of overall posts up for grabs including mayoral and gubernatorial posts.
The DLP said Song Chul-ho, running for mayor of Ulsan had a good chance to be elected mayor, as did its candidates in Pyeongtaek and Changwon. If they do win it will be a first for the DLP.
In 1997, Kwon Young-kil, the head of the party, received 306,000 votes in the presidential election, or 1.2%.
