Cheong Wa Dae Denies Combat Troop Request

A high-ranking Cheong Wa Dae official said, Tuesday, that the US had never requested the government to send combat troops to Afghanistan, either directly or indirectly. He continued there might have been unofficial discussions between colonels, but no request had ever been delivered by the US State Department, or the Pentagon. In addition, the official said it is unlikely that such a request would be delivered as ground operations in Afghanistan are near completion.
