KHC Boosts Road Safety and Convenience for World Cup

The Korea Highway Corporation said Tuesday it will undertake comprehensive measures to ease domestic travel for international visitors including toll gate users to pay in US dollars during the month-long sporting event. In addition, currency exchange centers will be available at 47 major highway rest areas, and translators will be on hand 24 hours a day at information desks. Staff at the information desks will have full access to computers, printers, and fax machines so as to provide not only translation and interpreting services, but also to help visitors conduct business and even make flight reservations.

A new traffic hotline will go into service offering information on traffic, tourism, and World Cup-related events in English, and other languages will be available upon a caller's request by having the line transferred to respective interpreters. To disperse traffic, highway authorities have equipped traffic information centers at two major highway rest areas with multi-monitors as of Tuesday.

And, last but not least, as one should never leave on an empty stomach, highway restaurants will provide English menus to make Korean dishes more visitor-friendly.
