EUCCK Announces Essay Prize Winner
Daejeon Munjeong Elementary School student Jeong Yu-jin topped the National essay contest hosted by EU Chamber of Commerce in Korea's (EUCCK) Korea Foundation with a piece titled "Ways in which Sports Can Contribute to World Peace." According to Daejeon city government's office of education, Jeong will receive the first prize at the Hilton Hotel on May 29, where international celebrities such as French football star Zinedine Zidane, KFA chair Chung Mong-joon, Seoul Mayor Koh Kun, and European diplomats to South Korea will participate.
Jeong will read her essay at the UN headquarters in New York in September with all expenses for her and her parents being paid by the EUCCK. Currently a class president, she lives with her father Jeong Hoi-gyeong, 41, a professor of computer science at Paichai University and mother.
