'The Way Home' Wins Best Picture at Dae Jong
Lights were focused on another local box office hit, as curtains went up in Seoul Sunday for one of the nation's most prestigious film festivals. "The Way Home" by one of the nation's few female directors Lee Jung-hyang swept three awards at the 39th annual Dae Jong Award Ceremony for best picture, best scenario and best production.
The low-budget indie flick made an unexpected buzz at theaters across the nation with its touching story about a 7-year old boy and his deaf and mute grandmother. ''The Way Home'' recently sold its copyrights to major US movie distributor, Paramount Pictures, becoming its first Korean movie purchase.
