The North Korean military is apparently opposed to the reconnection of the east coast railroad and road with South Korea, which had been proposed to South Korean special envoy Lim Dong-won on his visit to Pyongyang in early April, a diplomatic source in Seoul said Sunday.
The source said North Korean Foreign Minister Paek Nam-sun who visited Moscow from May 20 to the 23rd told his counterpart that the military was against the connection, in talks about connecting a trans Korea railroad to the trans Siberian one.
The source noted that the cancellation of the Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation Committee meeting by Pyongyang seems to be related with this.
