Kwon Roh-kap Indicted for Bribery

Former Millennium Democratic Party adviser, Kwon Roh-kap, was formally indicted and arrested by Seoul District Prosecutors Office, Tuesday, for allegedly taking a W50 million bribe from the jailed Jin Seung-hyun, through ex National Intelligence Service deputy director Kim Eun-sung. Prosecutors said Kwon received the money in July 2000, when Jin and Kim visited his house and asked him to use his influence to stop a Financial Supervisory Service investigation into one of the formers' subsidiaries.

The SDPO added Kwon was also suspected of taking W50 million from MDP official Choi Taek-gon in March 2000, but it had not charged him with this as the latter claimed he only gave W5 million of his own money. It said further investigations would be undertaken on this.
