Located in one of the most bustling areas in downtown Seoul is a giant souvenir shop in Myeongdong, which is regularly frequented by foreign visitors as well as local residents. Run and supervised by the government, the large-scale shop consists of 75 individual stalls aiming to inform foreign visitors of Korean culture with products including traditional accessories and handicrafts on sale at a competitive price. Boosted by World Cup fever, the National Souvenir Center has added souvenirs from the event in its lineup of items.
For those not interested in shopping, a multi-media cafe in downtown Seoul offers you broad information on Korean culture. More well known to expatriates in Seoul the cafe opened just a few months ago and provides a diverse cultural experience for free of charge. It offers a wide range of English publications about Korea including local literature and folk tales, which are hard to find in most other book stores.
Seoul Selection screens Korean movies subtitled in English every week and provides free on-line newsletters introducing cultural events that are being held around capital Seoul.
