KCTU to Begin '100,000' Strike

The Korea Confederation of Trade Unions claimed Thursday that 100,000 members of the nation's 67 unions have decided to participate in the general strike scheduled for Friday in protest of the lay off system finalized at the Tripartite negotiations. But the Ministry of Labor Affairs countered the strike will not exceed 10,000 people from 42 unions.

The Supreme Prosecutorial Office decided Thursday that if the union members strike disregarding the Tripartite Agreement, it will use the police to severely punish the strike leadership.
