Former Comfort Woman Finds Sister

The genetic analysis team of the Supreme Prosecutors Office (SPO) said Friday, that it is highly likely that a former comfort woman from Cambodia named Hun and Lee Sun-hee of Hapchong, Kyongnam province, who claimed to be Hun's sister, are related, probably having the same mother. An official of the team said that the tests cannot conclusively prove the relationship, but chromosome order on the genes studied tend to indicate a high probability.

Hun came to Korea with her two daughters earlier this year in an attempt to find her Korean family after claiming to have been taken to Cambodia by Japanese forces during the Second World War. Hun was married to a Japanese soldier who left her there at the end of the war, where she remained until her trip to Korea.
