My name is Park Nam-kyu who is in charge of the International
Marketing & Advertising Team of the Chosun Ilbo. I and
Mr. Kim Seung-kyun are always concerning the international
advertising at the Chosun Ilbo newspaper. The Chosun Ilbo
was first published in 1920 and over the years has built itself
to be the publication with the largest circulation and most
influence in Korea. According to surveys by AC Nielsen and
Gallup Korea, the newspaper is far ahead of its closest competitors
in these terms, a fact confirmed by its Audit Bureau of Circulation
The Chosun Ilbo is favored by domestic advertisers not only
for the above reasons, but also because of the socio-economic
status of its subscriber base, which has a high academic standard
and is from the middle to upper income brackets with a higher
spending potential. This is recognized as ensuring a greater
advertising efect leading to increased purchases.
The effect is enhanced by having separate sections such as
travel, economy and lifestyle allowing for targeted advertising
of brand name goods in the relevant areas.
Far from being satisfied with this, the Chosun Ilbo continues
to make efforts to build up its subscriber base, while increasing
its advertising effect.
